Sharing the Love of Movement and Community Building!

On Saturday, February 6th, Project Commotion hosted our 4th Annual Share the Love community event, which brought families together for an evening of movement, play, art, food, and talent-sharing. Workshops
Attended by adults and children, the event consisted of three 1-hour workshops. The first workshop integrated staff, adults and children with ice-breakers to get everyone moving. The second workshop, lead by PC staff Chloe Gordon-Murer and Yaxkin Hernandez- Melville, facilitated the creation of a dance to be performed for the talent show. Meanwhile, the children worked on a mobile art project lead by a parent volunteer.
During the final workshop, parents added to their child's mobiles while children engaged in free play and practiced their routines for the talent show. The workshops were followed by a dinner party with music provided by PC parent Zareen Levien. The talent show was our grand finale, in which parents, children and staff shared their gifts for dance, music, and recitation of the Periodic Table of Elements from memory!
Educating parents and providing them with useful tools for understanding and supporting their child’s development is essential to our work at Project Commotion. Each child is precious and unique, and we strive every day to learn a little bit more, to do a little bit more to bring out the best in every child.
