Project Commotion's target population is primarily underserved youth, ages 15 months - 12 years, with developmental or emotional challenges. Our specific curricula address autism spectrum disorders, sensory processing disorders, ADD/ADHD, learning disabilities and differences, cerebral palsy, and trauma.
Project Commotion's methodology in working directly with children is unique and vital to the growth and development of children with special needs. Our focus on building nurturing relationships, the environment that we create where we provide sessions, and our instructors' level of participation, presence, and ability to both follow the child's lead and guide them simultaneously, results in a program that fills a void in our community. Our success is proven through many routes: the improved abilities and self-esteem of the child, the increased understanding developed by the parents including their ability to better recognize their child's strengths and assist them in their development, and the results of thorough program assessment and evaluation which will be conducted by an outside service agency.

Overview
Project Commotion begins with an intake and assessment of the needs of the child, and then schedule him or her in weekly private or small group lessons, determined by individual stage of development. Parents receive bi-monthly progress reports and review of students' progress, provided by the instructor. Parents are also encouraged to attend Project Commotion's monthly Adult Education Groups in order to increase their understanding of different areas of children's growth and development. Project Commotion instructors work closely with parents to support in IEP development and provide reports for other professionals working with the child. As students continue in their development, Project Commotion offers suggestions for group lessons at collaborating organizations where children can explore other types of movement and expression.
