Bay Area Dance Week Classes
Project Commotion is proud to present 4 FREE classes as part of Bay Area Dance Week, April 21 - 30, 2017!
Monday, April 24 6pm - 7pm
Project Commotion Pre-Teen/Teen Family Creative Dance
Ages 9+ with parent/caretaker. 1 hour
Instructor: Yaxkin Hernandez Melville
Youth and their parents are invited to come and play, dance and enjoy the Project Commotion experience. Families will share the studio for this combo class that explores dance from a creative approach while building basic skills, body control and conditioning and space awareness.
Wear comfortable clothes and expect to be barefoot. Adults may wear socks.

Project Commotion Teen & Adult Creative Dance (16+)
Instructor: Yaxkin Hernandez Melville
Enjoy the Project Commotion experience with a playful approach to contemporary dance, incorporating self-expression, body conditioning and exploration of creative processes. Expect to sit, lay down and move across our sprung dance floor.
Wear comfortable clothes. Class is done with barefoot or socks.
Please arrive 5 minutes early to check in.
Saturday, April 29 12pm - 1pm
Junior & Parent Creative Dance
Ages 3 ½ - 5) with parent/caretaker.
Instructor: Yaxkin Hernandez Melville
Children and their parents/caretakers are invited to come and play, dance and enjoy the Project Commotion experience. Families will share the studio for this combo class that combines free exploration, guided gross motor and sensory activities, and exploration of rhythm and dance. Children begin to organize patterns of movement individually and alongside peers and parents model and interact with them while observing their movement preferences.
Wear comfortable clothes and expect to be barefoot. Adults may wear socks.

Capoeira and Traditional African-Brazilian Dances with Capoeira Ijexá
Instructor: Mestre Urubu Malandro
Capoeira is an African-Brazilian ritualized way of combat, it’s a self-defense disguised as a dance. This class, led by Mestre Urubu Malandro of Capoeira Ijexá, will explore movements of capoeira along with other traditional Afro-Brazilian dances of maculelê and dança guerreira.
Wear comfortable clothes and expect to be barefoot.
