Project Commotion and Capoeira USA invite you to

Criança Esperança, our first Youth Capoeira Encounter

Kids are invited...

...to a fun weekend of capoeira, music, dance, games, and crafts, led by some of the most outstanding teachers of capoeira who work with youth and families in the Bay Area and beyond!

Criança Esperança is our first Youth Capoeira Encounter, open to all youth ages 4 – 18, with all levels of experience in capoeira.

Schedule for Kids (times subject to change)

Friday, February 19
Classes and Rodas at Project Commotion
10:00 am – 11:30 am Capoeira and Music classes, ages 4 - 8
3:00 pm – 4:30 pm Capoeira and Music classes, ages 8 - 18
5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Class for all youth, followed by open Roda

Saturday, February 20
11:30 am Registration and opening activities at Project Commotion
12:00 pm – 5:30 pm Workshops, Rodas
at Project Commotion and Cell Space, 2050 Bryant Street, San Francisco
6:00 pm Parents/guardians pick up children
and join them for…
6:00 pm – 9:00 pm Dinner and "Feira dos Moleques" Capoeira Market* (Music, dvds, instruments and capoeira goods for sale, craft making and scavenger hunt, Brazilian music and Capoeira videos on the big screen!)

Sunday, February 21
12:00 pm – 3:00 pm Closing Roda and celebration at Project Commotion

Youth should wear capoeira uniforms if they own one. T-shirts will be provided at event.

Adults are invited...

...to participate in our Teaching Seminar for Adult Capoeiristas of all levels, from calouros to Mestres, who are currently teaching or are interested in teaching Capoeira for youth and children. This seminar will cover information including child development, brain development, sensory processing, understanding how to work with children and families, and more. Goals of the seminar are for instructors to:

• Gain some new perspectives and useful approaches to
  working with diverse communities of children in our society
• Learn language based in child development and sensory activities that are provided through capoeira
• Be empowered to advocate for the work that we do within capoeira, and for the children and families with whom we work
• Have opportunities to observe youth capoeira classes and shadow experienced instructors throughout the
  Youth Capoeira Encounter
• Exchange resources with fellow capoeiristas

Assisting and observing Youth Capoeira classes:

7:00 pm – 9:00 pm Dinner and Prep discussion
